International Women’s Day 2017 in Tokyo was one of the biggest yet with around 300 people peacefully marching through the streets of Shibuya. The motivated bunch were a mix of women, men and families of all ages that chanted in unison for women’s rights over their own bodies, feelings and lives.
Hundreds of Tokyo citizens taking part in the 2017 International Women’s Day March, shouting “Today is International Women’s Day! We want change!”
Men and women of all ages joined the march to show their support for gender equality, calling for equal rights at work, an end to sexual harassment and a reduction to men’s long working hours which prevent equal participation in the home.
Sign translations: “I refuse to live how women are expected to!”, “Stop violence against women!”
